2025 Disney Princess Marathon Weekend supporting National Ovarian Cancer Coalition

I want to honor my mom Maria a recent survivor of ovarian cancer and to bring awareness that there is support available
My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in April 21st 2024. For five months in 2023 she took multiple trips to the primary care, the gynecologist and the hospital trying to figure out why she was in so much lower abdominal pain. She had multiple diagnostic tests that just didn't show anything abdominal. Her last visit to the hospital was recommended by her gastrointestinal doctor because he was thinking it was diverticulitis or gallstones. A CT scan of the lower abdomen was done and found a 13 cm mass in front of her uterus, a biopsy was done immediately and it showed she was positive for cancer, the hormones from her ovaries were feeding this mass making it bigger. Pathology tests revealed that the cancer started in the fallopian tubes and then moved to the ovaries. We were all pretty shocked and scared and unsure what was next to come. My mom was the last person that anyone of us thought would get sick. She alway took care of herself, eating right and exercising often. My mom was grieving on her own because she was trying to be strong for her kids and her grandkids. She always stayed positive throughout the whole process. Her first response was "ok let's start treatment asap, let's fight this!" She went through 6 months of high potency chemotherapy treatments every 4 weeks for 7 hours! Treatment was on a Friday and she still made it to work on Monday because she wanted to still live normally. Her strong woman energy never gave up! Her positive mindset and the support of her family kept her going strong!August 14th 2024 my mom had a full hysterectomy that went very well, she made a full recovery. She will stay on oral medication for the next 2 years and continue to have exams and bloodwork every 6 months. She had and still has an amazing gynecology oncology team watching her closely. We are happy to say she is in remission and cancer free! She is a SURVIVOR!This year, I registered for the Disney Princess Races because I want to raise awareness and funding for National Ovarian Cancer Coalition . My support will help improve the lives of individuals, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
