If you are missing the golf tournaments this summer- grab a group of friends, have some fun on the fairway and dedicate a round of golf to supporting Albertans facing cancer.

WHAT IS PUTTING FORE A PURPOSE?

This new virtual fundraising initiative is open to all Albertan residents looking to support Albertans facing cancer, while enjoying a round of golf with their friends this August. Think of it as a month-long social distanced golf tournament for a good cause! There are two ways you can participate:

  1. Day of Golf: We have partnered with various Alberta golf courses, who will be dedicating a Day of Golf to drive awareness and raise funds for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
  2. Virtual Golf Initiative: You and your group can designate a round of golf at a course of your choosing, by pledging a donation in support of Albertans facing cancer.

Whether you dedicate a round through our Virtual Golf Initiative, or participate in one of our partnering courses Day of Golf events, the rules are simple:

  1. Register on our official site and make a suggested donation of $50 or over per golfer.
  2. Book at tee time and pay your green fee as you normally would at any course of your choosing. To participate at one of our partner courses through a Day of Golf, please visit our Partner Course page on how to book your tee time with one of these courses. This page will be updated as details are finalized with each course.
  3. If you sign up through a Day of Golf - we will be working with the courses to get you a bag tag, to show you are golfing for Albertans facing cancer. If you are joining the Virtual Golf Initiative and would like a bag tag, we can arrange to have those delivered to you at home.
  4. Print off an official “Putting Fore a Purpose” score card and submit your round via social media to be eligible for various prizes using #puttingforeapurpose.
  5. Coordinate a group of your favorite golfers and set up challenges to create some friendly competition. If you want to get real competitive, challenge each person to pledge an extra donation for lost balls, mulligans, double bogies or highest net score!
  6. Check out our Albertans Helping Albertans Online Auction, open from August 1 - 31, 2020, and bid on unique experiences and items in support of the Patient Financial Assistance Program.

Your Donation Can Make Up to DOUBLE the Impact!

We are happy to be partnering with Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink on the Putting Fore a Purpose golf initiative this August. Funds raised from Putting Fore a Purpose will be matched up to 50% through Birdies for Kids. Donate to make a bigger impact for cancer patients and their families in need of financial assistance in Alberta!
