Queen Bee 2023 supporting Catholic Charities Wichita

Help me provide shelter, food and assistance to Wichita families in need.
My name is Jamie Mies and I am honored and excited to be part of the Queen Bee court this year. My husband Andrew and I grew up in small towns just outside of Wichita. We met in High School and will celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary this year. We are active members of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. We have two sons. John is a freshman at Creighton University and Henry is in the 7th grade at St. Thomas. I am a stay at home mom. When not chauffeuring Henry to activities, I enjoy reading, cooking and being a facilitator of our parish Bible Study.
Catholic Charities mission of answering God’s call to serve the hungry, homeless and abused is very important to my family and we have long supported this mission. All of the funds raised during the Queen Bee campaign will be used to support Harbor House and St. Anthony’s Family Shelter. The impact these organizations are making on the lives of our most vulnerable brothers and sisters is life changing.
I was able to tour both facilities and walked away even more encouraged to do all that I can to raise money to support the good work that is taking place there. My fundraising goal is $20,000. Your donation will provide food, shelter and services to those in need.
In his book, Tattoos on the Heart, Father Gregory Boyle says,
“Here is what we seek: a compassion that can stand in awe at what the poor have to carry rather than stand in judgement at how they carry it.”
I hope you will join me by showing this type of compassion for the families served by these amazing places of hope.
