Hello, my name is Megan Storie, and I am an attorney at Kansas Legal Services, where I work as a Parent Advocate Attorney and a Domestic Violence Attorney. I often represent survivors of domestic violence at the Protection from Abuse docket in Sedgwick County. I have partnered with both Harbor House and St. Anthony Family Shelter to host clinics to provide essential legal services to their clients.
I am so excited to be a Queen Bee this year because I am passionate about helping children and parents impacted by domestic violence and homelessness.
With this campaign, I am fundraising for two essential shelters that make a huge difference for more than 2,400 children and adults in the Wichita area. First, Harbor House provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence to rebuild their lives. Second, the St. Anthony Family Shelter provides emergency housing exclusively for families with children. Families at both shelters have access to three meals a day, snacks, medical support, housing stabilization support, job information and so much more. Both shelters accept people regardless of their faith or experiences in life.
Please join me in making a gift to these essential community shelters for people during their greatest time of need.
My favorite quote is from the Bible. Proverbs 31:25 says, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." My goal with this campaign is to raise tons of money to give women, mothers, and children at both shelters the strength to overcome their challenges with dignity and grace so they don't have to live in fear of violence or about where they'll live in the future.
About me
I attend St. Thomas. I am a member of the Wichita Women’s Attorney Association and have supported Dress for Success and the Wichita Family Crisis Center. I am also a board member of the Women's Network, which is a nonprofit that provides training and career services to survivors of domestic violence. Here’s a fun fact about me: I am currently Miss Sedgwick County through the Miss Kansas Organization.
I am honored to be part of the 2024 Queen Bee Court through Catholic Charities that will raise essential funds to support women, men, and children surviving domestic violence and homelessness in Wichita.
Since 2017, the Queen Bee campaign has called attention to the inspiring professional and philanthropic work of women in our community, while also raising essential funds to support the work of Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter and St. Anthony Family Shelter. As a member of the Queen Bee court, I have committed to raising at least $3,000 – the amount it takes to fund one family in shelter for one month.
My plan is to surpass the $3,000 goal to help even more families in need, all while striving to earn the honor of Queen Bee Woman of the Year by raising the most of all honorees.
All proceeds from this tournament will be donated to the Queen Bee Campaign to benefit Harbor House and St. Anthony Family Shelter.
