About Jake Runs for FD

ULTRA MARATHON IN SEPTEMBER TO BENEFIT FD

Jake Walker has been involved in sports his entire life and loves to give back. His wife is the first cousin of Josh Kietz, who has FD. As one of seven kids, Jake’s family is “all about helping out whenever we can.” Jake is living proof of this and is now planning his third athletic event to benefit FD.

Inspired by Josh, Jake started with the 4x4x48 at the height of COVID near his home in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he raised $2,500 for FD. “The idea is to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours straight,” explains Jake. “There’s a guy named David Goggins who is a

motivational speaker/author/runner who was a navy seal and he started doing this event for charities and posted about it so I decided to give it a whirl.” After crushing that event, Jake decided to run the NYC marathon, his first ever marathon, for team FD and raised more than $3,000. His third event for FD will take place on September 14 in Belmont, North Carolina, called the Rocky Branch Challenge. In this introductory-level ultra marathon, Jake will run 50 kilometers or 31 miles, and hopes to raise another $2,500 for FD in honor of Josh
