Rebecca's Head Shave and Hair Donation supporting Alberta Cancer Foundation

It all started in grade 12, when one of my best friends shaved her head, but I just wasn’t ready! I have always wanted to shave my head and donate my hair, but I have never been brave enough!
Since then my life, like the lives of everyone I know, has been touched by cancer in many ways and many times. Whether it is a loved one fighting (and defeating) cancer, the loss of a loved one to cancer, or a personal cancer scare, I don’t think that I know anyone who doesn’t have cancer as a “part” off their lives!
When my Grandma passed in 2012 from cancer - I still wasn’t brave enough, but it was always there in the back of my mind. Over the years, I have known many others who have fought and made it, or fought and lost. Finally when my dad passed in 2020 I knew it was time! I realized that you don’t get to decide when you get cancer or if you lose your hair and it’s scary, so it is time!
I have tried over the last two years to get it together, join a head shave and find a place to donate my hair, but COVID has continually put a damper in that with cancelled events and the inability go out and get my hair cut off!
Well no longer! On February 26, 2022 I will be donating my hair to Angel Hair for Kids and shaving my head to raise money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation! I don’t want anything to get in the way, so I have my kids and partner ready and willing to help braid, cut and shave my head at home!
