Dear Friends of Rosedale,

Happy New Year! And… we miss you! Now that 2020 is officially in the rearview mirror, we are looking forward to what 2021 has in store for the Rosedale School. We all know the challenges of 2020 will not immediately go away, but this New Year has several promising things to look forward to. Two of the things we are especially looking forward to are directly due to your ongoing and energetic support of our school and our students: the new school building and the second VIRTUAL Rosedale Ride.

New Rosedale Campus
First, our NEW school! We are thrilled to report that we are really beginning to see progress on the new school building. In December, the foundation went in for the building and we expect to see the steel framework process begin in February. I will provide more updates and photos as we see more development. I really look forward to inviting each one of you out to the building when it is ready for visitors (and when it is safe to do so!).

Rosedale Ride
Second, the Rosedale Ride is back on April 10th this year. For the safety and health of all of our riders and our entire community, this year’s ride will again be a virtual experience. However, with a year of virtual events under everyone’s proverbial belts, we are planning for this year’s ride to be even better than last year. Please share with your friends and family to sign up and/or to donate.

The support of the Rosedale Riders is incredible. There are so many things we couldn’t do without your support and we appreciate every dollar you raise and every mile you ride in support of our incredible students.

A Note on 2021 and Thanks
We know that 2021 will present many challenges for our entire community and especially our students. The health of our students and faculty is our number one priority and we continue to look for ways to keep our entire community healthy and engaged in learning. Rosedale teachers have found amazing ways to connect to students online and in person in this new normal. Our Friday afternoon Zoom dance parties can’t be beat!

I want to end this newsletter with deep gratitude for this community of supporters. Thank you to each of you for your continued support of our school. Your support helped us get individualized materials to our students' homes when we were doing virtual instruction only and has helped us develop solutions to new challenges as students returned to school. You registered for last year’s event, sent us words of encouragement, posted pictures of your own virtual rides, and waited patiently for our shirts to get to you. We know it is an incredibly hard time for many and we are truly grateful for your support. I also want to thank our incredible parents, educators, and staff who have been working tirelessly to ensure each student is getting what they need during this time.

Look for more from me on Instagram and Facebook as well as our February newsletter.

Rosedale Proud,
Principal Elizabeth Dickey

About the Rosedale School

By participating in the Rosedale Ride, you are helping the students at the Rosedale School, Austin’s only public school exclusively for children with multiple disabilities and profound needs.

Rosedale Ride has grown into one of Austin’s premier bicycle events with over 1000 participants. It is currently the largest fundraising effort supporting the Rosedale School. The ride has made big changes to the facilities at the school, helping with adaptive transportation, learning centers, sensory activities, and more.

Rosedale School is a public school in Austin ISD serving kids from all over the district in Austin, TX. Every dollar donated goes to helping the students ages 3 to 22 who have significant medical, physical and cognitive disabilities.
