Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina's COVID-19 Response Fundraiser

To help feed the most vulnerable in our community, local Allstate agency owners and financial specialists are coming together to earn an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant by fundraising to support the Second Harvest Food Bank. According to Feeding America, school closures, rising unemployment and rising poverty due to quarantine and stay-at-home orders will disproportionately impact people already at risk of hunger and could result in an estimated additional 17.1 million people experiencing food insecurity. Now more than ever, we’re experiencing the impact our community can make when we come together. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is currently working to respond to the COVID-19 crisis - which means ensuring food distribution procedures remain safe and strong in the wake of coronavirus. The staff is committed to the health and safety of the community - their partner agencies, volunteers, and to those that are receiving food distributed from their warehouse. Help continue to replenish their food supply to children, seniors, individuals impacted through loss of work/business cut-backs, and families who need food assistance like never before. 

Funds are the greatest need and a wonderful way to multiply your giving. In the big picture, Second Harvest is able to provide 7 pounds of food into the community for every $1 donated. On a regular basis, funds help keep refrigerated trucks on the road allowing for pick-up and distribution of fresh produce, dairy and meats to their partner agencies. They are also able to purchase products by the pallet – securing much needed items at great pricing, which is needed now more than ever.
