Signature Chefs Feeding Motherhood Kansas City supporting March of Dimes

The Behnke family first got involved with March of Dimes after being admitted into St. Luke’s on the Plaza at 24 weeks pregnant with twin boys. Jennifer was admitted indefinitely due to preeclampsia and was to be on bed rest until the boys were due. She went for emergency C-section on August 15, 2016, just 5 days after arriving.
“March of Dimes quickly became a huge part of our life and our story. The support and encouragement that they provide to be hands on, be a voice for your child and advocate for them is amazing. MOD provided support during our 100 days stay in the NICU from the Kangaroo program to our journey of loss and grief with the passing of our son Waylon.”
The Behnke family story started several years prior to becoming pregnant with William and Waylon via IVF. Jennifer and Fritz struggled with infertility and loss for about 3 years until they had a successful embryo transfer of William and Waylon in March of 2016. Everything from that point after the successful transfer seemed to be going great, Jennifer felt great…until it wasn’t. The Behnke’s found support through faith, family, friends, community and the amazing hospital care team that brought us here today. William is a strong, healthy thriving 6 year old.
“Now March of Dimes is a part of our story that we want to honor and support in all the ways that we can to help other Mom’s, babies & families have the help, support, education and encouragement that we had and have.”
