Introducing our #ShiningStar honoree for our Star Party Athens 2019! Meet Michele K. Pearson of Edward Jones Financial Advisor: Michele K Pearson! Michele has committed her life to strengthening her home town through leading community initiatives, working collaboratively with local organizations and providing financial empowerment as a business leader by running her own Edward Jones investment firm in Athens, GA. Her financial career spans almost two decades. Michele was appointed to the Athens Housing Authority Board of Commissioners in 2006 and has served for more than a decade. She is also a Trustee of Ebenezer Baptist Church, West and she has served on the Convening Committee for Envision Athens. Michele is also one of the founding members of the Northeast Georgia Business Alliance and actively working to strengthen this organization, which seeks to expand access to capital for African-American business and community organization. She is also an active member in the Rotary Club of Athens, GA, USA and serves as a committee chair for the Athens Chapter of The Links, Inc. Recently, Michele received the 2019 UGA President’s MLK Fulfilling the Dream Award to join her wall of other professional and community recognitions.

On the topic of empowering women through education, Michele says, "Joe Madison says "Education is the new currency of the 21st century", and that is true. In corporate America, women continue to be undervalued, underestimated and marginalized. Education allows women to step into the leadership roles that naturally pull at them. JRF provides the scholarships to women that encourage, engage and empower them."
