2020 Autism Awareness Ambassadors

Tell us about him/her. This girl right here is an amazing example of a friend! She has a branch of autism that is a branch known as aspergers syndrome This amazing woman graduated high school, then went to go to college to graduate with her bachelors degree in psychology in may of 2018! She now holds not one, but two jobs and which one of them is being a para-professional in Danbury school systems. She loves it everyday because it keeps her on her feet and she still manages to have a life outside of work! She is one of my greatest friends and I am glad to have gone to college with her! Fight on Amanda!

What makes him/her smile? Helping other children grow into adults! And how she views adulting! Plus MINIONS!!!

Share a story about a funny or special moment with him/her? She and I have had many funny moments such as all meeting at the local mall by pure coincidence and basically having a mini college reunion! As well as Amanda being known as minion because for her love of the cute yellow creatures! As well as her and mine adventures in Mitchell Colleges drama program, with our production of Godspell, she has also performed in other shows done by the college.

How Is your special person inspiring? Amanda constantly had the drive to keep going and to never give up. In college she would always be the one who would go get help, rather then being offered it, she would seek out on her own. If Amanda saw a friend who needed help, she would help out the other person before she would help her self which is honorable in itself! She surprises herself everyday by doing tasks that she wouldnt think she would ever be doing. She finally, does not let her Aspergers control her, she controls it! She makes it into another ability that she possess'.
