I Am Making A Difference with My Miles!

This year, I registered for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon event as a member of NOCC TEAM TEAL, because I want to raise awareness and funding for National Ovarian Cancer Coalition . My support will help improve the lives of individuals, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

MY WHY....

This is my beloved wife Dawn Ann Napolitano Galindo (photo).  We were married for 36 years. We raised two children and have three grandsons. In December of 2020 Dawn was diagnosed with T-cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia which is an extremely rare and aggressive disease. Dawn was a warrior and fought as hard as she could but passed away at home on June 2, 2021.

About Dawn:

Dawn graduated from San Antonio College Nursing School in 1993 as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Dawn was a Registered Nurse, she worked in pediatrics, oncology, home health, and education. She also worked as a Case Manager and Director of Nursing over her nearly twenty-year career.

Dawn was a veteran and serviced with the United States Air Force. She pioneered the growing role for women in the military’s communication technology division in the late seventies and early eightties. As an Electronic Computer and Switching Systems Specialist, she was recognized as Airman of the Month for the 2035th Communications Squadron, earned the rank of Sergeant, and was awarded a Good Conduct medal.

Why am I here?

Dawn wore many hats in her years of life, including daughter, niece, big sister, rebellious teenager, friend, swimmer, Airman, wife, mother, nurse, soccer mom, animal lover, aunt, Spurs fan, mother-in-law, and eventually grandmother. She always lit up a room as the largest personality with the loudest mouth. She traveled to nearly twenty countries and loved her trips to the beach. Like a second mother to children's friends, her care for others seemed endless. Her selflessness extended to her four-legged friends as well. Over the years, she volunteered at several local animal shelters.

Dawn was a very special and after she passed away I was determined to help raise awareness to Cancer/Leukemia research by running miles, running for those who have passed, running for the people who are sick,  running for those who can't, and for my own mental health and fitness.

I will continue to do what I can, to make a difference with my miles to help others - as I honor my beloved wife.

Will you please join me to help save lives by donating today?
