TCS New York City Marathon supporting National Ovarian Cancer Coalition

Fighting cancer is a greater purpose. Running for Team Teal seriously upgrades my sense of achievement in training for and finishing a race.
I never set out to run marathons. I set out to free myself from obesity. The osteoarthritis in my knees started screaming too loudly and too soon. I live in constant pain and discomfort; but, I haven’t stopped running. There’s something about running that develops into more than escaping. Each run feels like winning no matter how long it takes.
Sam was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer, but due to her relentless self-advocacy for her health and a team of specialists, it was discovered that she has a different cancer. This is a miracle, the treatments for each cancer differing so dramatically. And, through it all, she just keeps going. Long before Sam’s diagnosis, I was honored with a spot to run for Team TEAL in the New York City Marathon, an amazing organization raising awareness and funding for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Sam had helped me through two grueling marathons - step by step. Last year we signed up for a series of half-marathons with no idea her cancer would be our new companion along the course. Before each race she considered the wisdom of running as she progressed through chemo. She ran and finished every single one. I will run and finish NYC and do more with my miles than run.
In a year full of challenges, a greater challenge remains, saving more lives from ovarian cancer. Dollars raised for the NOCC support national programs and local market initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, assist newly-diagnosed patients throughout the country, provide ongoing support to caregivers, and advocate for the advancement of ovarian cancer research.
I’m thrilled to be part of a team that helps improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities touched by ovarian cancer! We need your help! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Will you please join me to help save lives by donating today?
