I Am Making A Difference with My Miles!

My wife, Sarah, is fighting for her life against stage four ovarian cancer.  She is the most selfless person I have ever known.  Sarah has spent her life raising our children-Michael, Caitlyn & David-to become loving and caring adults, teaching students who are at high risk of dropping out of high school and advising community college students.  Sarah was diagnosed just over a year ago but to this day she continues to think of others before herself.

Running with Team Teal is my way of recognizing Sarah's ongoing fight to beat cancer.  By running the NYC Marathon as hard as I can, I will be honoring the pain Sarah and many others go through every day as they fight against this awful disease.

Cancer has had a major impact on our lives.  Sarah’s mother and my father are cancer survivors, Sarah’s sister died of cancer four years ago and my stepmother and stepsister both died of ovarian cancer 30 years ago.  It is our goal that Sarah beat cancer and survive for another 30 years or more.  By doing so, we hope to see our three children raise their own families and to demonstrate how to overcome a dreaded disease and to thrive under tremendously difficult circumstances.

We also honor the ongoing efforts of the NOCC to advancing cancer research and to improving the lives of survivors and those who love them.  By participating in the NOCC's events and survivor support group meetings, Sarah gains hope, knowledge and inspiration to continue her battle.  Please help us to enable the NOCC to continue its efforts.
