I Am Making A Difference with My Miles!

I am so excited to be running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon as a member of NOCC TEAM TEAL in honor of my sister, Ashleigh. In 2016 my sister was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer at the age of 30. This was a huge shock to my family as we have no family history and she was so young and healthy. Ashleigh was my best friend, my "person", the best aunt to my children and the life of any party with her obnoxious singing voice, contagious smile and positivity. After the most courageous 3 year fight Ashleigh passed away on June 7, 2019 at the young age of 33.

I have always been a runner but my passion for it has changed over the years. Over the years running has been my "me-time", a way to unwind as a busy working mom. When Ashleigh got sick this was my time to grieve and relieve stress in order to be the best mom, wife, daughter and sister during this trying time. I was sitting with Ashleigh one day while she was getting one of her many treatments and told her that I was going to run a marathon for her one day since she wasn't physically able to run anymore. This has always stuck with me and deep down I knew I had to do this for her. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that while she was still with us but I was able to complete my first marathon in 2021 with her as my guardian angel pulling me through those last few miles. It has remained a huge goal of mine to be able to run a marathon for Ashleigh and others affected by Ovarian Cancer, so I am so honored to have this amazing opportunity.

Ovarian Cancer is a rare and aggressive cancer and is often called a "silent killer" because the symptoms tend to go unnoticed for a long time. Due to a lack of early detection, screening tools and signs and symptoms that are easily missed it is often found in advanced stages which makes treatment challenging. By partnering with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition my support, with your help will help improve the lives of individuals, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts and in Ashleigh's memory.  Any amount is greatly appreciated. Even though this won't bring Ashleigh back this will help others fight this awful disease and hopefully one day allow better screening tests.

Will you please join me to help save lives by donating today?
