2022 Chicago Marathon Fundraiser: Team IMPACT

Upwards of 20 million kids in the U.S. (almost 1 in 4) are living with chronic illness and disability. Most of them face challenges that medical care alone cannot treat — among them loneliness, social isolation, fear of being different and a shortened sense of future. Many of you understand these realities better than me.

To fill the void that traditional support systems and medical care often leave, and to help address the side effects of persistent medical trauma, Team IMPACT connects kids with college sports teams using a unique and powerful two-year therapeutic program. Through Team IMPACT, kids are able to build safe and supportive relationships with young adults and gain confidence to face their daily challenges with resiliency. Student athletes benefit as well, as they become empowered to use their platforms for good.
