We don't just race to the finish line. We race to a cure.
ALS can strike anyone — and when it affects someone you love, life changes forever.For more than three years, my dad, Scott Massengill, fought ALS with extraordinary courage. Even as the disease took his ability to speak, eat, drink and walk, he never lost his sense of humor, his smile, or the spark in his eyes. He also never complained, even when he needed a ventilator to breathe. His strength inspired the phrase "Scott Up" among family and friends - a reminder to face adversity with grace and, of course, humor.My dad lost his life to ALS in May 2024 and that fall I ran the NYC marathon on an ALS team in his memory. Crossing the finish line for my dad was one of the most meaningful and rewarding moments I’ve ever experienced. This year, I’m continuing my mission to raise funds to support those affected by ALS by running the Chicago Marathon in support of the Les Turner ALS Foundation, a leading organization providing care, resources, and advancing research for ALS families. Its work directly helps people like my dad and their families navigate the unimaginable.Thank you for supporting my personal mission to raise ALS awareness and to support those affected by this cruel disease.
