About 2024 Thanksgiving Meals for Hope

The Pilgrims of Plymouth celebrated the first Thanksgiving to thank God for a wonderful harvest. Since then, we continue the tradition of thanking God and sharing the Thanksgiving feast with our loved ones.

Take this opportunity to convey your heartfelt gratitude. Just as Jesus Christ shared a meal with his disciples and expressed his love and devotion, you can express your love through donating a meal to our students. Please join with us in blessing them this Thanksgiving season.

"Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; his mercy endures forever." Psalms 107:1

Alex's Story

Hey, I am Alex. Before I walked through the doors of Great Lakes Adult and Teen Challenge, before I met Jesus, I was a slave to drug addiction. I grew up in a broken home, surrounded by addiction and domestic abuse. It was easy for me to fall prey to perils of drugs and alcohol. I began using pills, marijuana, and alcohol at an early age. By the time I was 22, I was a full-blown meth addict.

For many years, I battled with meth and heroin, which eventually led to me selling meth to pay for my addiction. In 2014, I was arrested for the sales of methamphetamine and was facing 12 years in prison. While I was in jail, my mother unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. I was completely broken. In that moment I cried out to Jesus and he answered me. Soon after, I found myself at the doorsteps for Great Lakes Adult and Teen Challenge, where I developed my relationship with Jesus. Once I completed the program in 2017, the Lord called me to Brooklyn Teen Challenge, to pursue my education in ministry.

Since being in Brooklyn, I have been raised up as the Development Coordinator for Brooklyn Teen Challenge, maintained a 3.7 gpa at Regent University, and found the woman of my dreams! God has blessed me beyond measure since giving my heart to him. I look forward to continuing the work the Lord has called me to, and believe there are even greater things ahead!
