Commonly Asked Questions and Answers​

Where is the ride start/finish and day-of registration?
First Street Green in Benicia. We recommend you arrive 30 minutes in advance of your planned start time (for your route). 

Are e-bikes permitted?
Yes, e-bikes are permitted.  However, if you are participating in the King and Queen of the Mountain Challenge, you will not be able to on your e-bike. 

What are the start times?
There is no mass start, we strongly recommend you start riding your individual route during the following times*, to ensure that rest stops are open when you arrive. 

6:30am Registration/Check-in open for Century riders

7:30am Registration/Check-In opens for 100K riders

8:30am Registration /Check-In opens for 50K riders

9:00am Registration/Check-In opens for 25 miles riders

11:00am Brewfest and festival area opens

11:15am Band: The Great Space Coaster

1:20pm Rider awards and acknowledgements

1:45pm: Band: The Big Jangle

4:00pm Event concludes

What is your refund policy?
There are no refunds as we have to purchase insurance and begin incurring expenses for those registered.  All sales are final, regardless of the circumstance. Thank you for your understanding.

Will there be rest stops?

The rest stops are indicated on the 25, 50K and 100K routes. We will be adding them to the Century route soon. the rest stops for the Century route are tentatively set at 28 miles, 44 miles, 63 miles, and 87 miles.

Will the routes be marked?
Routes will be marked with color coded arrows and all riders will receive route cards at packet pick up and at day-of registration/check-in.

Can I change my route distance?
If you need to change your distance, please do so at check-in before the ride, our event crew at the registration table can help you make the change.  There are no refunds for a decrease in ride length and you will need to pay the increase in length as applicable,  you can pay this additional amount when you check-in.

Will bike parking be available?
Yes, we are pleased to offer complimentary bike parking. It is on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I bring pets?
Due to Solano County regulations,  we must respectfully ask for your pets not to be near the food area or inside the Brewfest. There is an exception for service animals. 

Will there be gear check? 
There will NOT be gear check, so remember, what you bring with you, you will have to carry as you ride. Special Olympics Northern California is not responsible for anything left behind.

If it's raining on event day, what's the plan? 
The event will take place rain or shine! We do not offer refunds in the event of inclement weather.

Can my family/friends register on the day of?  
Day of Registration is available, but the price increases $10 for each distance. Please note: t-shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

Will you be accepting on-site contributions?
You may make additional monetary contributions or turn-in those last minute 
donations at the registration/check-in tent.  Please have checks made payable to Special Olympics Northern California and put Bike the Bridges 2023 and your name and/or team name in the memo line.  Also, credit card or cash is accepted.

What is the The King|Queen of the Mountain Challenge? 
It is approximately a two mile ascent of Crockett Boulevard (between Pamona Street and Cummings Skyway in Crockett). The climb is part of the 100K and Century routes. For the 25 and 50K routes, riders turn left on Crockett Boulevard for the ascent and then make a u-turn at the top, enjoy the descent, and rejoin their routes at Pamona Street. If you have not yet opted in for it and have already registered for the event, please send Celia an e-mail to celiag@sonc.org prior to Wednesday, October 4th or you may opt-in on event date at the registration table.  The male and female in each age group will win the coveted polka-dot Bike the Bridges Bike Jersey!






What if I cannot make pre-event packet pickup on Thursday, October 5th between 4pm-7pm?

No worries! You will be able to pick up your items on event date, just give yourself extra time.

What food options will be available for non-registered riders?
We are pleased to have the following food trucks offering delicious food for purchase…

Will there be activities for kids?
Yes! We will be having a Kids Zone with multiple activities for kids to enjoy that include coloring, games, bubbles and more.

Can non-riders still attend the Brewfest?
Yes! If you have folks interested in just joining us for the Brewfest, tickets are available now by clicking on our Brewfest tab on this site.  Have them save time and money by purchasing their tickets ahead of time.  Brewfest will be open from 11:00am-4pm.

Are kids allowed inside the Brewfest?
Due to ABC regulations, we are not allowed to have anyone under the age of 21, inside the Brewfest area.  However, there will be plenty of open space for families to enjoy the live entertainment.  Don’t miss The Big Jangle, A Tom Petty Band and The Great Space Coaster!

Do you still need volunteers on the day-of the event?
Yes! This event is made possible by the help of incredible volunteers. If you know of anyone that is interested in helping, please encourage them to sign up by visiting:  https://sonc.org/volunteer-calendar/ or contacting Celia at CeliaG@sonc.org. This is a perfect  volunteer opportunity for clubs and community groups!

Volunteers play an important role in this event and each participant benefits from their hard work and enthusiasm - we could not do it without them!
