9:00 am Building Inclusive Systems of Care with Queer and Trans Youth – Maggie Druschel (they/them)

Let's start with some basics! This presentation will begin by reviewing queer and trans inclusion in all settings. It will then dive deeper into ways that medical, mental health, and care settings can become more queer and trans inclusive through paperwork processes, documentation, care consultation, and built spaces. Improving conditions for queer and trans youth is critical for all care providers and ultimately advances care for all.

10:00 a.m. Trans and Nonbinary Patient Perspectives Panel

The best way to address the needs of trans and nonbinary patients is to hear from those patients themselves. During this panel discussion, you'll hear from five diverse trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit individuals who all have unique healthcare experiences and perspectives. Listen close while they share their wisdom and discuss the good, the bad, and everything in between. Leave with concrete knowledge and ideas for how to ensure trans and nonbinary patients have the best possible experiences in healthcare and beyond.

11:15 a.m. Transforming Care Keynote

12:00 p.m. Options for Gender Affirming Genital Surgery – Dr. Joe Pariser and Dr. Carrie Link

Gender-affirming genital surgery is a highly specialized field, which continues to evolve. Dr. Carrie Link and Dr. Joe Pariser will describe a brief overview of modern surgical options, complications and perioperative care pathways for gender affirming genital surgery, including masculinizing and feminizing surgery.

1:00 p.m. We Matter in the Numbers Too – Raquelle Paulson (she/her) and Cree Gordon (they/them)

Data matters! In this session you will meet Raquelle and Cree to learn about the important work they did to transform HIV data here in Minnesota. In coalition with other members of the MN Council for HIV Care and Prevention and MDH, they made critical changes to better represent people of trans and nonbinary experience living with HIV in our state. You will also learn how you can help make the data even more accurate if you are working with folks who are trans or nonbinary and living with HIV.
