For over 20 years, UMassFive employees, members, and our families have joined together as "Team UMassFive" to participate in the UMass Cancer Walk and Run. We are proud to have raised over $173,000 over those years, and look forward to building that number up in 2023. We support the UMass Cancer Center at UMass Chan Medical School, the home of our Worcester branch, because they are doing cancer research and clinical trials locally. We know that the funds we raise have a direct impact for people in our own community, and we believe in keeping things local.
Many members of Team UMassFive have felt a personal impact from cancer, and find this to be a cause near and dear to our hearts. This year, we are dedicating our efforts to the memory of a beloved longtime former UMassFive colleague, Pauline Saulmon, who recently passed away from breast cancer. Pauline started as a receptionist in our Hadley branch in 2005, later moving to the Northampton branch where she served for over a decade. When she retired, on her 70th birthday in 2019, she was helping members in our contact center. Pauline was an amazing asset to UMassFive, a friend to so many, and she is greatly missed. Let's honor her memory by helping fight back against cancer!
