The UMass Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is celebrating 50 years as the first department of family medicine in New England.  Please join us in celebrating this milestone anniversary with us!

The afternoon will kick off with a casual networking lunch followed by a program that explores the role of family medicine in health and health justice.

Speakers include Donald Berwick, MD, MPP, FRCP, former administrator at CMS and president emeritus and senior fellow at IHI, Michael Curry, Esq., President and CEO of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, Renee B. Critchlow, MD, FAAFP, Clinical Associate Professor Boston University Dept. of FM and CMO at Codman Square Community Health Center, Robert L Philips, MD, MSPH, Executive Director, American Board of Family Medicine, with emcee Wayne Altman, chair of Family Medicine at Tufts and Robert Baldor, chair of Family Medicine at Baystate (distinguished alums). Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy has the day on her schedule, and we hope to welcome her and other guests and performers throughout the afternoon.

We will recognize the trailblazing family physicians who built the department, and many more across the region who have committed their careers to patient centered primary care in the communities where they are needed most.

The program will conclude with a celebratory reception. We hope to see you there!
