USO National Capital District (USO-NCD) established its Turkeys for Troops program in 2008 to support junior enlisted military families (E-6 and below). The USO has a proud tradition of making the holidays extra special for our active-duty military and their families and USO-NCD is honored to say “Thank You” to local military families in the metropolitan Washington-Baltimore region by providing Thanksgiving meal kits, with all the trimmings.

When our troops have Thanksgiving on the USO, they can spend more time with their families, celebrating their blessings in the true spirit of the holiday.

Since partnering with TEGNA WUSA9 in 2009, their annual Turkeys for Troops Telethon has raised over $1.25M in support of a program that delivers a taste of home and a heartfelt thanks to our service members and their families during this special holiday time.

True to the USO’s mission of connecting service members to family, home, and country, this program encourages military families and service members to gather together in fellowship and camaraderie for the holidays.

Not only will your contribution fund our Turkeys for Troops program, but it will also go towards the many other important and impactful USO programs and services we deliver year-round.
