Food Outreach Virtual Canned Food Drive .

Welcome to Food Outreach's 2020 Virtual Canned Food Drive - Presented by Tito's Handmade Vodka! Our virtual drive allows you to safely participate in a community response to help our neighbors who are struggling with hunger in addition to a diagnosis of HIV or cancer during the pandemic. Together, we have already reached our initial goal of raising 50,000 cans of food for our clients in need. Will you help us provide even more nutrition by reaching 75,000 cans?
Supporting our virtual food drive is easy. 1 can = $1.00 donation. You can give on your own or build a team and recruit family, friends, neighbors or work colleagues!
Food Outreach has a long history of providing care, through volunteers and staff, with respect and kindness. We remain devoted to the significance of every client we serve, strengthened by their bravery and resilience.
On behalf of our volunteers and donors, we experience the constant expressions of our clients’ gratitude, relief and confidence in Food Outreach. Our clients continue to teach us the profound importance of dignity, of compassion and service to one another.
Thank you for supporting our mission!
Sincerely,
Julie Lock

Your participation in the Virtual Canned Food Drive will provide Food Outreach with the funds needed to buy the right food, at the best price, at the right time.
At Food Outreach, we believe that "Food is Medicine," which is why we offer nutrition counseling and support to nearly 2,000 individuals in the St. Louis region who are living with food insecurity and a diagnosis of HIV or cancer. Our services break the cycle of nutrition insecurity, malnutrition, and poor health by connecting clients with the resources they need to maintain a balanced diet and manage their diagnoses. Research shows that providing Medically Tailored Meals (MTM) to individuals facing nutrition insecurity and chronic illness is one of the most cost-effective and impactful ways to improve and promote equitable health outcomes.
We remain the only organization providing these services in Missouri and Western Illinois.
In 2024, we served 601,680 meals to nearly 2,000 people across 144 zip codes in Missouri and Illinois. Each year, more community members require our services. Through intake assessments conducted by our registered dietitians, Food Outreach welcomed 548 new clients in 2024. Many of these individuals were experiencing moderate to severe malnutrition, highlighting urgent nutrition-related emergencies that required immediate intervention.
In addition to these health concerns and the many other stressors our clients face daily, 72% live at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which equates to an annual income of just $15,060.
Food Outreach has Missouri Food Pantry Tax Credits available. This program provides a tax credit to any Missouri taxpayer (individual, corporation, or trust) that makes a financial donation of cash (gifts-in-kind, stocks, and gifts from donor advised funds do not qualify) to Food Outreach.
The credit is equal to 50% of the donation amount to a maximum of $2,500 per tax year, per taxpayer. If married individuals filing jointly donate, each spouse may claim up to $2,500.
Those donors who make a monetary contribution of $100 or more will receive a tax credit form in the mail from Food Outreach in February 2026. The form will be mailed to the address provided at registration. More information can be found at: foodoutreach.org/missouri-food-pantry-tax-credits/.
