Q: Can I share my fundraising page on Facebook? 

A: Yes, This year we are using Facebook Fundraising integration! This means that when you connect your fundraising page to Facebook, any donations raised through Facebook will magically appear on our WSA fundraising page. 

  • To set this up:​ Log in to your page and click "Manage my page." 
  • Click "Create a Facebook Fundraiser" on the left-side menu, and follow the prompts from there.

NOTE: If you do not follow these steps, any donations raised on Facebook will not appear on your page.

Q: Where does the WS Awareness 2021 take place?

A: Awareness 2021 happens where you are - #EverywhereWSA

Q: Is there a registration fee? 

A: No, there is no registration fee for awareness fundraising. You will be eligible to receive an official awareness hat with a minimum donation of $100. (Be sure to check the appropriate box on your donation form!).

Q: Is there a minimum amount I need to fundraise in order to walk? 

A: No. There is no minimum fundraising goal to participate in awareness month. Donations of every amount will help to  support the programs and services of the WSA.

Q: Are there advantages to fundraising online? 

A: Yes. The awareness website is packed with features to help you achieve your fundraising goals. Some of the features are:

  • Your personal fundraising page provides you with powerful tools to make fundraising easier. Our software allows you to input your contacts online, track your requests and send personal thank you notes if you’d like.(All donations are also acknowledged by the WSA).
  • Each donation appears on your page automatically. This helps you track the progress and encourages your supporters to help reach your goal.
  • Friends and family can log on and support your efforts quickly and easily.
  • Automated acknowledgement messages and tax receipts are sent to all your online supporters.

Q: How do I participate in the WS Awareness Hat Challenge? 

A: The first 100 people to create a fundraising page, and raise $100 or to make an individual donation of $100 by May 31, 2021, will qualify to receive a limited edition 2021 WS Awareness hat. Once you qualify, you will receive information for ordering your hat.  

Q: How do I donate? 

A: There are several easy ways to donate. You can donate online to a specific team fundraising page or individual participant via their fundraising page or donate via mail. Please make checks payable to the Williams Syndrome Association. Please indicate the team you are donating to in the memo portion of the check and mail the check to:

Q: How do I make a donation with a check and not a credit card? 

A: Make the check out to Williams Syndrome Association and in the memo section write the person/team you would like your donation to be credited to and mail it to:

Q:What should I do if the check is made out to me personally? 

A: If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it to the WSA National Office at:

Q: I mailed a donation to the WSA but it’s not listed on my Fundraising Page.

A: Checks are normally processed within 7 days. However mailing times can vary. Please allow 10-15 business days for mailing and processing. If the donation does not appear after 15 business days, please contact us at

Q: If someone registered for Awareness Month as an individual, can they still be part of a friends fundraising page? 

A: Yes. Simply contact support at 248-244-2229 or with the information for the fundraising page you'd like to join.

Q: What can I do to make sure my donations are credited to my account? 

A: Make sure your donors know that they need to be on your fundraising page when they make a donation online for it to be credited to your fundraising efforts.  If they are unable to donate online, please send a check in the mail as mentioned above. If someone donates to your walk and you weren’t credited for the donation, please contact us at to have your donation properly attributed. 

Q: How can I get company matching on my gift? 

A: Many employers offer programs to match charitable contributions made by their employees. These "matching gifts" are an opportunity to double or possibly triple your donation.

There are two ways to apply a matching gift:

  • While making your gift, click on "Matching Gifts" and select your company name from the dropdown list before completing your donation.
  • If you know your company has a matching gift program but already made a gift without selecting your company name, click here to find instructions on how to apply for a match from eligible employers.
  • If your company is eligible, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to apply for a match with your employer.

Q: How are credit card numbers handled? 

A: Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send the credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection.

Q: Are donations tax deductible?

A: Yes. The Williams Syndrome Association is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, EIN #22-3305007, and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
