About Walk A Mile in Their Shoes 2023

It's time to STEP UP!

Nearly 80% of people accessing the YWCA Regina are doing so because they are fleeing violence. By stepping up you are helping raise vital funds for YWCA Regina's Isabel Johnson Domestic Violence Shelter and you are supporting survivors of intimate-partner violence. Our Isabel Johnson Shelter provides women and their families with 24/7 support services in safety planning, counselling, and assistance in connecting to community resources and permanent housing.

In Saskatchewan, homelessness and domestic violence are closely linked. Far too often, Women and Children are forced to endure violence as the cost of keeping a roof over their head. YWCA Regina responds to this need with programs, services, and advocacy crucial in providing women and children with the fundamental right to safety and security.

It takes concrete action to step up against violence: that is why we ask YOU to show your support, challenge yourself, and challenge your community, to have difficult conversations about gender-based violence and speak out against cultures of violence.

Let's STEP UP on September 21, 2023!

About Walk A Mile in Their Shoes

YWCA Regina's Walk A Mile in Their Shoes is a community-focused fundraiser where we ask our supporters to step up to raise awareness on gender-based violence, with the added challenge of taking a walk in red shoes, a visual symbol to show support for those who have experienced violence.

It is a light-hearted way for our walkers to challenge themselves to learn about the impact of intimate partner violence, and to show their support. Walkers are invited to learn more about the realities of gender-based violence in Saskatchewan while stepping in to their roles as leaders, allies and change-makers.

Thank you for your support!
