About Walk for Women Virtual 6K 2026

On average, a Ugandan woman walks 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) per day to gather water for her family.

Join Field of Hope Walk for Women and make a tangible difference in the lives of women in Uganda. Every day, hundreds of thousands of women walk over six kilometers, carrying heavy jerrycans often times filled with contaminated water for cooking, drinking and daily chores.

Imagine the burden of carrying over 40 pounds of water multiple times a day, just to meet your basic needs. This exhausting journey not only drains their physical strength but also robs them of vital energy, with 25% of their daily caloric intake absorbed from this task.

By participating in our 6K walk, you're not only raising awareness but actively supporting initiatives to provide clean, accessible water sources for women and opportunities for training to equip them with the knowledge they can pass down to their children and community.

Together, let's stride towards a future where no woman has to endure the hardship of walking several kilometers for water. Walk with Field of Hope and Walk with Ugandan Women on May 23rd, 2026.

The Eight Wells

Since 2025, eight communities have been forever changed. Eight places where women no longer have to spend hours collecting or searching for reliable clean water, but instead investing in their families, education, and livelihoods. These wells have transformed daily life for women and their families, restoring time, improving health, and creating space for opportunity.

The video to the right says it all! Just take a look at the impact that you have helped create by just taking these steps:

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Seventy-six percent of Ugandan farmers are women, yet many have had little to no education in successful farming practices or financial management. Field of Hope is equipping women across multiple districts in Northern Uganda with essential agricultural and financial training, empowering them to improve their livelihoods and support their families.
    Through this initiative, women receive:
    1. Access to clean and safe water through a well.
    2. Training in proper agronomic practices, including pest and disease control, harvest techniques, and post-harvest handling.
    3. Education on animal health to improve livestock management and productivity.
    4. Home and business finance training to strengthen financial stability.
    5. Support in forming cooperatives and participating in Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
    6. Access to small loans at reduced interest rates, enabling them purchase necessary inputs and equipment.

Thank you for being a Champion of Field of Hope!
