
Alexander Kuo, M.D., Medical Director of Liver Transplantation, Professor of Medicine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Kuo specializes in treating complex liver conditions including advanced cirrhosis, liver cancer, and pre and post liver transplant management. He received his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard. He completed Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship training at UCSF. His academic interests include the treatment of severe alcohol associated hepatitis, acute-on-chronic liver failure, complications of portal hypertension, and viral hepatitis. He has published on these subjects as well as additional topics such as guidelines for optimal care of patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer and ways to expand the hepatology workforce to serve patients living with liver disease. Dr. Kuo is a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and serves as Chair of the AASLD Training and Workforce Committee.
