For nearly 40 years, HIV and AIDS have impacted Minnesotans who are already marginalized.
Through the years, the Walk has raised more than $15 million for our education, prevention, and empowerment services for those living with and affected by HIV. We hope that one day, this walk won't be needed. Let's come together to make that a reality.
Participating in the Walk to End HIV means you are joining forces with community organizations across Minnesota to put an End to HIV. Funding from the walk continues more than 35-years of work that provides HIV education, prevention, empowerment, and advocacy.
The end of HIV is attainable. We have the medical tools available, but everyone must have access to them. Medical treatments are only effective if those who need them also have quality health care, affordable housing, and safe communities. Joining together with you and our community partners, we know this is all possible.
What is a Rainbow Walker?
Rainbow Walkers set a personal fundraising goal of $1,000 or more. In addition to a fabulous glow and bragging rights, Rainbow Walkers receive special incentive prizes when they reach their goal: water bottle, coffee mug, and Walk t-shirt.
Do I have to register in order to participate?
Yes, we want to know that your are walking! Please register online prior to attending the event. Some onsite registration will be available at the Walk.
Is there a fee for registration?
No, however we ask that each person who registers commits to setting a goal and raising funds for the Walk to End HIV.
Does every participant get a T-shirt?
Every walker who raises $100 will receive a t-shirt. Participants must hit this minimum 4 weeks before the Walk to receive their shirt at the Walk to End HIV. Those who meet the minimum after this deadline will receive their shirt via mail afterwards.
If you are sending a donation via mail be sure to include a note about who the donation is from and which walker the gift should be attributed to.
How do I create a team?
Creating a team is simple and easy! Just select the button "Join or Start a Team" above.
What is the role of a Team Captain?
Team captains are the organizers and cheerleaders of their team. Team captains responsibilities include recruiting family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers; support their fundraising efforts; and bringing the fun!
How many people should be on a team?
We suggest aiming for 10 team members but there is no limit or minimum requirement. Tell others why you are walking and invite them to join you! Remember, your team members don't have to live in the same city, state, or country. They can fundraise and walk where they are.
Can my company sponsor or participate in the Walk?
Yes, we welcome employee resource groups and company walk groups. Feel free to wear your organization's logos, choose a fun theme, or bring a banner. Companies can also sponsor the Walk. Don't forget to ask your employer if they'll match your gift to the Walk to End HIV.
