Reading is Fun at WCA supporting Westover Christian Academy
Westover Christian Academy

Why Participate?

This year, we are working to raise funds for much-needed improvements, including new lockers, playground upgrades, and better buses to safely transport our students to activities, field trips, and sporting events.

We ask you to prayerfully consider supporting our Reading is Fun fundraiser. Every dollar makes a difference—and helps us continue to offer a Christ-centered education that nurtures both minds and hearts.

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

How Your Support Makes a Difference

At WCA, your support truly matters. As a private Christian school, we do not receive any government or outside funding. Our only consistent source of income is student tuition—which covers the basics. That’s why our fundraisers are so vital: they help us provide the extra resources and opportunities that directly impact the safety, comfort, and overall experience of our students.

We rely heavily on the generosity of our families, friends, and community to help bridge that gap and give our students the very best.

Because we are a private Christian school, we also have the incredible freedom to integrate God’s Word into every part of the learning process. Whether it's science, history, or literature, every subject is taught through a biblical lens. This freedom is precious, and we are committed to preserving it.

Thank you for your support!

Why Are We Hosting the Reading is Fun Fundraiser?

Reading is one of the most powerful tools for a child’s growth. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children should be exposed to reading from birth. Literacy stimulates brain development, strengthens vocabulary, enhances memory and critical thinking, and supports social-emotional growth. It lays the foundation for success in school—and in life.

In our own community, the need is real. In Danville, 1 in 5 adults read below a 4th-grade level. We want to change that by inspiring our students not just to learn how to read, but to love reading. To honor the spirit of this fundraiser, a donation will also be made to Danville Project Literacy, extending the impact of your generosity beyond our school and into the wider community.

Beyond academics, reading plays a vital role in our students’ spiritual lives. The ability to read and understand scripture is essential for growing in faith and walking closely with God. Through this fundraiser, we aim to equip our students not only for academic success but also for a deeper relationship with the Word.

Let’s work together to build a community of strong, joyful readers. Because reading isn’t just fun—it’s essential for life today and for eternity!
