2021 W.I.S.H. Society supporting Make-A-Wish Michigan

Shannon Andrus is the owner of Hearts for the Arts, an art studio specializing in art education and therapy for individuals with disabilities. Founded in 2008, Hearts For The Arts has been dedicated to enriching the lives of those in our community through the arts. Utilizing art therapy, mentoring, skill building, and entrepreneurship, Shannon strives to promote personal growth, confidence, and self-esteem in her students.
Throughout the years she has partnered with many community nonprofits, holding fundraising events for organizations including The Boys & Girls Club, Make-A-Wish West Michigan, Autism Support of Kent County, Humane Society of West Michigan, Harbor Humane Society, Saint Anthony of Padua, Thrive: A Refugee Support Program, Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, Grand Valley Alumni Association, Young Survivors of West Michigan, and more. She has also created and hosted her own special events like Henna Heals Night, This-Ability Holiday Art Show, Make-A-Wish Superhero Day, Children’s Healing Center Superhero Day, and an ArtPrize Disability Art Show. Shannon also volunteers regularly as a guest teacher for local organizations and events.
Shannon’s passion for helping others and celebrating the diversity of art has been the driving force behind her business for the past 12 years. At Hearts for the Arts you will find all ages, abilities, and backgrounds working together side-by-side. Bridging the gaps and being inclusive to all in the community is what makes her studio unique.
When not teaching, Shannon enjoys nature hikes and playing outdoors with her husband, two little boys, and dog.
