The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) saves lives and brings hope to those affected by suicide through a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy.

WHY WE FIGHT

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US with over 47,000 Americans dying each year.
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for those between the ages of 10-34.
Suicide deaths exceed those from homicide, war, and natural disasters combined and costs the US $69B annually.
It is estimated that there are 25 suicide attempts for each death – more than 1M attempts per year.

With chapters in all 50 states, our nationwide movement of over a million people is taking action against this leading cause of death.
