Paddle for Health 2020 Supports Island Kids Cancer Association on Vancouver Island

A FUNdraiser for the Island Kids Cancer Association supporting Island Families Living with the challenges of childhood cancer.
The reality of 2020 prevents us from all getting together at the same time and place to paddle and show support for the families on and around Vancouver Island living with the challenges of childhood cancer. Paddle for Health 2020 will be about small individual bubbles of friends and families safely doing what they do best – having fun, enjoying each other and the outdoors, and supporting families in need.
So, if safely getting out on the water with family and friends is an option for you, now’s the time! Perhaps a backyard dryland make-believe paddle with the kids in cardboard kayaks/canoes/paddleboards is for you? The key is to be safe, have fun and raise much needed funds for the Island Kids Cancer Association!

Paddle for Health has always reminded us of the importance of community, coming together in difficult times and supporting one another. This Paddle for Health 2020 will look very different, but having fun on the water and paddling for the kids and families is more important than ever. Supporting a child with cancer is not unlike what we are experiencing in this time of COVID 19. Caring for an immune compromised child is terrifying, facing the unknown stressful and battling unseen germs and viruses a scary reality. Cancer does not take a break during this COVID pandemic, children are still being diagnosed, and chemotherapy and radiation treatments continue. Families lives are still being turned upside down, a childhood cancer diagnosis a cruel addition to this viral nightmare, ongoing treatment and follow-up more challenging than ever.
Island Kids Cancer Association will not stop reaching out and supporting kids, youth and their families affected by childhood cancer, so if you can, pick up your paddles and participate in this amazing fundraiser!
