About the Cause

In the TriState region, it was recognized that there were growing needs of service men and women returning from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many were coming home with service-related disabilities – along with emotional trauma from their experiences at war. It was determined that there needed to be a support system that provided solutions.

In 2012, Easterseals serving Greater Cincinnati- with the support of the Farmer Family Foundation and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Foundation - set out to create a unique model that would bring the community together to make a real impact in the lives of veterans and their families. As a result, Easterseals has been able to help thousands of veterans of all ages and their families locally.

The organization's primary mission is to provide comprehensive support in any veterans journey to meaningful employment. In addition, Easterseals is the United Way partner for veterans who call seeking assistance with non medical urgent needs.

You can reach our staff by calling 513-878-2200, by emailing vetsinfo@eastersealsgc.org, or by calling the United Way service line at 211.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

The US Department of Veteran Affairs National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide calls for a comprehensive approach to prevent veteran suicide and effective networks of support.

These are protective factors that can help offset the risk for veterans:

  • Feeling connected to other people
  • Having a sense of purpose in life
  • Access to mental healthcare
  • Positive coping skills
  • Your philanthropy is a big part of Easterseals leaving no veteran behind. It allows us to serve any veteran regardless of discharge status and provide holistic support and resources throughout a veteran's unique journey.

If you are a veteran, service member, family or friend you can call the Veterans and Military Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat, or text a message to 838255. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is availble 24/7.

YOU can help a local veteran overcome obstacles by becoming an Ambassador for Veterans.

We invite you to take this to the next level and advocate for the thousands of former service members who struggle with unemployment, homelessness, addiction, and disabling injuries.

Easterseals Military & Veteran Services works with veterans in the region to convert hardship to personal and occupational success.* Despite the constraints of COVID-19, Easterseals continues to respond with non-medical emergency resources, employment readiness, and educational support and retraining for veterans. In fact during this time, we've connected nearly 40 veterans to employment many of them previously homeless!
