About 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Be a hero and join our Law Enforcement community to escort the Special Olympics torch, the “Flame of Hope,” on its journey to the 2025 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games in June.  Hundreds of law enforcement personnel, known as the Guardians of the Flame, will proudly relay the Special Olympics Torch, the "Flame of Hope" through their communities in honor of their commitment and dedication to the 27,000 Special Olympics athletes whose lives are enriched by the free programs offered by Special Olympics Northern California.

The actual run itself takes place between June 16 and June 27 concluding at the Opening Ceremony of Summer Games, where the Guardians of the Flame will escort the Special Olympics torch to light the caldron, signaling the opening of the games. Take advantage of early registration and register before May 27th as fees will increase to $45 on the 27th. Your registration fee includes a commemorative dri-fit Torch Run t-shirt that you can wear with pride on your run. Participants are encouraged to register by May 27th in order to guarantee arrival of the runner shirts for your run.

We encourage all personnel to go the extra mile and raise additional funds for our athletes. We will have additional incentives gifts you can earn so the more you raise, the more we want to thank you.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known honorably as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremony of local, regional, state and world competitions. Annually, over 110,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing courage and celebrating diversity, uniting communities around the globe.

Why Participate?

The Law Enforcement Torch Run provides law enforcement agencies throughout Northern California the opportunity to promote a positive and civic-minded image to their communities.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Northern California which supports the many programs and services Special Olympics provides to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Not only is there financial support generated by fundraising efforts, but lasting friendships are formed between our athletes and law enforcement through various events and engagement opportunities year-round.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Special Olympics provides sports training and competition opportunities as well as educational and health programming at no cost to the athletes or their families.

The skills athletes gain through their participation go far beyond the playing field.  Being a Special Olympics athlete builds confidence and self-esteem, giving athletes the life skills to be productive members of their community.
