An ASA Captain is a Wingman who has volunteered with ASA as a Wingman for at least 1 year and has gone through additional training to oversee a Wingman Team and their Athlete while training and racing.

They have read and agree to the Captain Guidelines and the commitments laid out in that document.

As long as a Captain meets their Group Run commitment and Captain Responsibilities (below), ASA commits to providing every Captain at least 14 races of their choice (any distance/event) throughout the year, as well as all ASA RunFests. These will be requested and assigned through the Wish List process.

Commitments:

Complete a yearly Captain Agreement
Attend one of the Captain meetings (December for new; January for returning)
Attend a minimum of 1 ASA Group Run a month, or at least 7-8 times throughout the year if you can't make a particular month (late March- early November)
Be able to maintain at least a 12:30 minute/mile run pace for any distance you join us
Serve as an ASA Manager at least twice in the year as either Onsite Manager at a Group Run, Onsite Manager at a Race, or Equipment Manager at Group Runs or Races
Renew background check every two years (ASA Office will prompt when due)
Fundraise $365 for The Wingman Program by December 15th (check out fundraising credit opportunities here)
