AbilityFirst Joan & Harry A. Mier Center, one of multiple AbilityFirst locations in Southern California, has provided year-round programs and services for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities, since it first opened its doors in 1976. Through person-centered, interest-based activities, the center helps participants achieve their personal goals, especially in the areas of communication, socialization, basic life skills, and healthy living. The center serves the South Los Angeles area, including the communities of Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Los Angeles, South Bay, Westchester, Torrance, and Lennox.
