ADOPTIONS over 7,000 animals placed in homes since 2013

VOLUNTEER SERVICES over 150 people walking and playing with our dogs and cats each week

FOSTER CARE over 75 specially trained families caring for animals too young to be adopted, providing a safe place for them until they are ready

BEHAVIOR TRAINING dedicated trainer focused on using positive methods for socializing scared and hurt animals, getting them ready for their forever homes

EDUCATION PROGRAMS over 1,000 children learned how to read animal body language and to be responsible pet owners each year

PET COMFORT VISITS over 75 seniors living in Memphis senior living communities have received comfort and love from our animals each month 

LOW COST VACCINE CLINICS 4 events each year for low income residents in the Memphis community

WHO WE ARE

Since 1933, the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of injured, neglected and abused animals.  And for just as long, people like you have kept us going.

Thousands of animals are neglected or abused in Memphis & Shelby County each year.  Hungry, scared and injured, these animals face a bleak future.  That's where we come in.  We are the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County.  

With support from animal lovers like you, we are able to prevent and stop animal abuse as well as help injured animals.  We provide animals with a safe place to recover, nutritious food and outstanding veterinary care.  And we are dedicated to giving these animals a brighter future...a second chance at life.
