The Autism Society of Texas is excited to bring back our fourth Autism Film Festival, AutFest Texas,on September 13th! Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we have decided to change AutFest Texas: The Reel Deal in-person event to AutFest at Home: The Sequel, a virtual film festival.
The films will be shown online during a live virtual film festival on September 13th starting at 6:30pm. Join us in watching our 2020 short film selections, the feature film, Aging Out, and a new feature documentary, Autism and me. We'll also have a live panel discussion and Q&A! The films will also be available to watch after the live event through September 30th. Pop some popcorn, put on your most comfortable clothes, lay on your couch and enjoy some great films at home!
Why a film festival? Through film and video we can raise awareness in a broader community about life with autism. Through film we can show a range of ages and abilities, challenges and triumphs, (however big or small), that living with autism can bring. Viewers can also witness the dedication and support needed to give individuals with autism the greatest chance of reaching their full potential. Films are made by autistic filmmakers or are about autism. Through film, we tell our story.
All funds raised at the Autism Film Festival will stay here in Texas to support our mission of improving the lives of all affected by autism through free programming, information & support, education, advocacy, recreation, and community inclusion events.
*Films are suitable for teens and up, not recommended for children, due to the subject matter which includes overcoming suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety, as well as some mild violence which could be scary for young children
Tickets will still be available for purchase after the live virtual showing through September 30th. Tickets include viewing short films, both feature films Aging Out and Autism and Me, and a panel discussion with a Q&A.
AutFest At Home: The Sequel Ticket: $20 (per household)
*Previously purchased Double Feature Tickets, AutFest At Home + AutFest: The Reel Deal, are valid and you do not need to purchase another ticket for AutFest At Home: The Sequel! Previously purchased tickets for only our April AutFest At Home event are not valid and another ticket will need to be purchased for AutFest At Home: The Sequel.
An Autism Star could be a child or adult on the autism spectrum, friend, family member, colleague, therapist, educator, or an organization that you feel has helped connect individuals with autism to the support and resources they need. Recognize others by purchasing screen space during the slide show before films begin and your “Star” will be honored at AutFest at Home: The Sequel. Details here.
