Our adoption programs, affordable veterinary services, community outreach efforts and volunteer opportunities are essential to the health and wellbeing of thousands of animals across Tampa Bay.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Meet Franky

Franky is a 6-year-old Cattle Dog mix who was brought to HSTB as a stray. Wandering the streets of Tampa alone, Franky contracted heartworms, a fatal condition if left untreated. Many shelters are unable to cover the costly heartworm treatment, but HSTB provided the life-saving treatment to Franky to help him live a long, healthy life.

But Franky's hardships did not end there. While an upbeat and charismatic pup, many adopters found his endless energy, destructive behaviors and lack of socialization hard to handle. Franky was adopted into three separate homes, but returned each time.  But, Franky never lost hope, and HSTB never gave up on him! Our behavior team worked with Franky to channel his energy into more constructive behaviors and helped socialize him with people and other dogs. One day, a local mom and her daughter came to HSTB just to "look," but were drawn in by Franky's goofy smile. It was love at first sight for all involved, and Franky had finally found his forever home!

HSTB saves over 13,000 animals just like Franky each and every year - your support directly funds the medical care, housing, food and enrichment to help every homeless pet find their happy ending.
