TWO-TIME SURVIVOR!
The word CANCER is scary; on May 23, 2023, that word was said to me. Breast cancer is the start of my long journey. I just turned 50, and I struggled with my health, personal relationships, and keeping up at work. Breast cancer was my wake-up call. Being highly competitive, I faced the biggest competition of my life (literally).
After a double mastectomy, I thought I was through the worst, but that was just the beginning. Kidney cancer, 6 surgeries, infections, chemo, and radiation. It was a battle, and many times, I thought cancer was going to win. I would get up, fight, and then get knocked down again. Deep down, I knew I could conquer this. CANCER was not going to beat me!
I had support from FAMILY, FRIENDS, and even a new fiancé to push me through. Yes, I got married during all this. It has been over a year now since I was diagnosed. I am back at work, happily married, growing hair, and fully active again.
I look at life through different eyes now and enjoy every moment, never taking anything for granted.
