Kern County Cancer Foundation
Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, Oncology is a leader in pediatric cancer care in the Inland Empire and a natural fit to our mission to become partners in the fight against cancer. In 2013, Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer partnered with Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Pediatric Oncology by funding support services to help families navigate through cancer treatment.
In 2008, Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer made a commitment to raise $750,000 to support a new cancer resource center at Loma Linda University Cancer Center and it’s through the efforts of the Believe Walk we have surpassed that contribution. Funds continue to support programs at the resource center including navigation services, genetic risk and distress screenings, financial assistance, appearance center, support groups and more. These programs will address the physical, psychological, social and spiritual concerns of cancer patients and their families in our communities.
Megan's Wings provides financial and emotional support to low and moderate-income families who care for a child with cancer who must take off work and can't pay the bills. We believe no family should have to choose between paying the rent or putting gas in the car to get their child to cancer treatments. Megan’s Wings carry out its mission by supporting families through our programs:
No one should face cancer alone. At Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center, support services are part of a holistic approach in treating cancer. These services are important to the healing and wellness of cancer patients as they navigate through diagnosis and treatment. Believe Walk funds support the Pink Ribbon Assistance program which includes patient navigation services, diagnostic breast health services, financial and educational resources, and support to uninsured and underserved women in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
In 2011, Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer made a commitment to upgrade their mammography equipment. The upgraded equipment is a valuable tool in detecting and treating cancer and improves the outcome of women's health through early detection. Since then, funds have continued to support the upgrade of various imaging equipment. Several advanced diagnostic technologies are used, including Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Mammography, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CAT Scan (Computed Axial Tomography), Ultrasound Imaging, PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and Nuclear Medicine. Early detection of cancer is key to a healthy outcome for patients and it’s through these efforts cancer care continues to advance.
Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is committed to providing comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services to the low-income and the underserved population in Riverside County. Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer have pledged to support the expansion of cancer care at the RUHS medical center. Believe Walk funds will support new equipment, furnishings, and high-quality coordinated services.
St. Bernardine Medical Center offers some of the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art outpatient imaging services available to patients in the Inland Empire. Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation provides multiple layers of services:
The Beloved Foundation was established to ease the burden of families who are struggling financially as a result of caring for a loved one with terminal cancer. Believe Walk funds support the Family and Patient Assistance program which includes financial support, grief counseling with a licensed therapist, cancer care kits and care-giver support. This program has a positive impact on cancer patients and their families while they navigate through their cancer journey.
In 2020 the Believe Walk partnered with The CARE Project to provide additional assistance in the Inland Empire for breast cancer patients & survivors. The CARE project bridges the gap of financial burdens that cancer patients face during treatment. Their programs and services address the need for emotional support through support groups and activities that promote health and wellness.
Through this partnership, the Believe Walk and The CARE Project will bring awareness to male breast cancer while supporting patient services such as financial assistance for co-pays, utility bills, rental assistance, and transportation assistance through Uber, Lyft and fuel cards.
