My name is Martha Martínez, and in May 2020, I was diagnosed with 2.5 aggressive cancer. I asked myself why, in my family, there is no history of women with breast cancer. When I received my cancer diagnosis, I cried for two hours straight.
A few days after my first biopsy, they immediately started chemotherapy; the doctor informed me that it would be 18 sessions; the last two were too strong, and I thought I was not going to persist it, but I left standing at the end of the first treatment. Then came the surgery where my right breast and 22 lymph nodes were removed; on April 21, 2021, I started with radiation 25 in total; this has been my path through cancer.
I am always a very strong woman, positive, and a fighter; at that moment of illness, I was not going to give up; I had to get up and face this terrible illness that harms us, women, so I decided not to let myself fall despite the circumstances, I have woken up 100% positive and did not erase the smile from my lips despite the circumstances. I still have a long way to go, but I will be standing waiting for the reconstruction of my right breast, and I have faith that everything will be fine.
