I am writing this on behalf of our youngest son, Matthew, who is nine years old. In early 2019, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). At that time, we lived in Bozeman, Montana. It took five hours to drive one way to the nearest Children’s Hospital for Leukemia.
After a year of arduous chemotherapy, his condition was in remission. But he had another two and a half years to finish the treatment completely. Our family moved to Ventura County, CA, in early 2020 so that Matthew could get better treatment at CHLA.
After Mathew received chemo in 2022, he was in remission. Unexpectedly, he relapsed last summer. After learning that Matthew’s leukemia had relapsed, the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF) provided us with substantial financial assistance. This support helped immensely when Matthew was hospitalized. It helped us get through a very difficult period.
We are very lucky to receive support from the Believe Walk through TBCF and would like to express our appreciation for the encouragement and sympathetic care TBCF’s staff gave us during Matthew’s battle with cancer.
