Sabetai faced a tough journey when diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at just three years old. Before her diagnosis, a persistent cough and extreme fatigue drained her energy and left her unable to express her discomfort.
She transformed from a vibrant, energetic toddler to a lethargic child, finding solace only in her swing bed. Her parents knew something was wrong. After being rushed to the hospital, Sabetai’s bloodwork revealed the devastating truth. It was leukemia.
As Sabetai endured treatment, her family rallied around her. Despite the chaos of hospital visits and medical procedures, the support of organizations like the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF) brought to light during the darkest moments.
TBCF provided their family with direct financial assistance and participation in the Project Holiday and Family Connection Event programming, support groups, and academic tutoring.
Sabetai is now nine years old and thriving in third grade. She and her family continue participating in TBCF support groups, which provide hope to newly diagnosed families.
