My annual mammogram showed a suspicious image that needed more follow-up. I continued life working as a health clerk, caring for my husband and children. Somehow, in my heart, I knew I had breast cancer.
During my six-month check-up, the suspicious area had grown, and I was referred for a biopsy. The surgeon confirmed it was cancer but assured me they caught it early.
My journey was a roller coaster ride. Sometimes, I felt I was ready to throw in the towel. The emotions and my anxiety made things like an MRI and PET scan impossible to complete. My treatment plan included multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation. All was very hard.
Not working added to the stress, and that’s when I found Breast Cancer Solutions (BCS). BCS helped me and my family with utility bills and grocery store cards to alleviate some of the financial stress.
Breast cancer has affected my life emotionally and socially. There have been times I felt like giving up my fight. But then, on other days, I feel completely blessed. Because of breast cancer, my friends and family have showered me with love and support along my journey. This includes complete strangers and survivors I have met along the way. All of them have pulled together and supported me and my family.
