VIRTUAL BOWL FOR KIDS' SAKE

What is Bowl for Kids' Sake?

Bowl For Kids' Sake (BFKS) is one of Big Brothers Big Sisters' largest fundraising events of the year. BFKS is a team fundraising event, similar to a 5k fundraiser. But instead of celebrating with a 5k, we celebrate with virtual bowling and activities. To participate, you simply need to register, raise money, and get involved with the weekly challenges and activities for a chance to win prizes!

BFKS is the perfect way for individuals and companies to have fun while also making a BIG impact on our community!

When and where is BFKS?

This year, Bowl for Kids' Sake has turned into a virtual bowling/activity fundraiser! Visit the Event Information page to learn more about the weekly challenges and prizes you could win! If you have any questions, contact Bethany Ordaz at bordaz@bbbsmadison.org or (608) 661-5437 x111.

How do I register for BFKS?

Registering online is easy! Click here to Register as a Virtual Bowler. After you've registered, your fundraising page will be automatically generated. If you have any questions, contact Bethany Ordaz at bordaz@bbbsmadison.org or (608) 661-5437 x111.

When do I fundraise?

Start your fundraising efforts today! Once you register, your personal fundraising page is live and we encourage you to share your page with friends, family, peers and/or co-workers. You have from now until May 1st. For the entire month of April, we'll be challenging you with activities and fundraising challenges. And of course, all your fundraising efforts are celebrated with the chance to win prizes each week!

How do I submit offline donations?

If you received any offline donations (cash, checks, etc.) make sure you submit them to your personal fundraising page! To do so, login to your BFKS fundraising page, click the drop down menu in the top right corner and click the "Manage My Page" option. On the left hand side of this page, select the option that says "Raise at least $ (whatever your goal is)." At the top, there will be a tab that says "Enter Cash/Checks" and this is where you enter that information. If you have any questions about submitting offline donations, please contact Bethany Ordaz at bordaz@bbbsmadison.org.

How do I make sure I get the raffle ticket entry?

All Activity and Fundraising Challenges are tracked through your fundraising page on the BFKS website. Fundraising Challenges are automatically tracked as you complete each challenge. The Activity Challenges require you to upload photos/videos for weeks two, three AND four. As we enter each week, a new Activity will be available for viewing in your Fundraising Checklist. Where is your fundraising checklist? Hover over your profile image in the top right corner, click "Manage my page" and you'll be directed to a new page. On the left side is a checklist of things for you complete. Click on the Activity Challenge labeled for that week. Once you complete each Activity Challenge, take a photo or video and upload it here. BBBS staff will be tracking raffle tickets based on your submission of photos/videos for each Activity Challenge. If you have any questions or would like to double check that you have been entered for a raffle ticket, please contact Special Events Coordinator, Bethany Ordaz at bordaz@bbbsmadison.org.

Why can't I see all the Activity Challenges that are listed on Contest Calendar?

Activity Challenges will become available for completion at the start of the week they are assigned. Visit the Contest Calendar to view when each Activity Challenge is taking place. There will not be a checklist option for the first Activity Challenge (the Zoom Happy Hour) as that is tracked by registering here.

Do I get a raffle ticket for completing any activity on my fundraising checklist (mentioned above)?

We've carefully selected a specific Activity Challenge for each of the four weeks of BFKS 2.0. While we encourage you to complete all activities on the checklist, raffle ticket entries will only be accepted for the one Activity Challenge each week. Click here to view the Contest Calendar to see which Activity Challenge is available to participate in for a raffle ticket each week. If you have any questions, please contact Special Events Coordinator, Bethany Ordaz at bordaz@bbbsmadison.org.

Do I need to personalize my donation page?

Yes! People who personalize their fundraising pages with why BBBS means so much to them typically raise more money than those who don't!

Who should donors make their checks out to?

All checks can be made out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County. They can be mailed to the office.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County
2059 Atwood Ave. #2
Madison, WI 53704

My Team Captain already registered my team, how do I join?

To join a team that is already registered, click here to see all teams and type in the team name that you would like to join. If you don't see your team registered, double check with your Team Captain to make sure they have registered.

Any suggestions on how to fundraise?

Use social media: post often on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Ask for donations, let your friends know how far you are from hitting your goal and thank your donors publicly.
Ask about company matches: many companies will match an employee's contribution to a charity. Ask your HR director or supervisor if your company will make a donation to your team or match your personal contribution.
Plan a small fundraiser: host an online fundraiser and invite your friends, family and coworkers. Examples include virtual happy hours, bake sale deliveries, or virtual trivia nights. Get creative!

What if my Team doesn't reach the fundraising goal?

Fundraising goals are set by you and your team, shoot for the stars, but know that we'll celebrate all your successes big or small. Visit the fundraising tips page to learn more ways you can raise BIG!

Why is the "Donate" search not finding a Bowler I know has registered?

You must type in the first or last name of the bowler exactly as registered. If you have a problem locating a bowler, please contact Bethany Ordaz at (608) 661-5437 x111.

Where does the money raised at BFKS go?

100% of the money raised through BFKS stays in our community. We depend on the money raised at BFKS to carry out the work of carefully matching children with caring adult mentors and providing ongoing support to the child, volunteer mentor and the child's family. Check out the About Our Impact page on our website for more information.
