Bike for Main Street Project

Frequently Asked Questions:

Bike for MSP registration is now open! Every year we get questions from generous Manitobans about what the event is, how to register, and how to be of support.

Read below for some of our answers to frequently-asked questions.

How do you register?

Visit the Bike for MSP home page. Click the “Get Involved" > "Register” prompt and follow the instructions.

Make sure you connect Strava to your Bike for MSP account so we can track your kilometres. Once completed, then congratulations, you’re registered! Once you register and log into your fundraising page, you can do fun things on your dashboard, such as personalizing your page, sending tailored emails, and tracking all your donations from your donors! It’s incredible and easy to use.

Please note: Strava is not currently updating activities automatically. Please manually enter your activities for now. We are working to fix this.

When can you register?

Registrations open on July 1, 2026, but you can join anytime until the end of the fundraiser on September 13, 2026.

Why ask people to support you by donating?

Going the extra mile and sharing the word with your friends and family along with your social media followers will have an exponential effect on your fundraising efforts! It helps you make the most out of your ride and raise essential funds for our cause. You won’t always know how much someone might donate – but your efforts in asking people to donate will go a long way! You get five donors; you raise ten times more money.

How do you start?

Update your participant page with two key things:

– A photo of yourself or your team (make sure you’re smiling)

– Tell people why you’re riding? What’s your 'why’ to help our community through Main Street Project?

Donors will love seeing a face when donating, and they’ll enjoy your story.

Where can you find these donors?

Ask around! There’s not much more to it, but here are some tips to get donors when you’re starting your Bike for MSP:

1. Let's start simple - make a self-donation! Now you immediately go from registered to fundraiser. People will see you're raising money, and more importantly, these people can become donors!

2. Call, email, or text your friends and family for donations. Tell them why you're riding and why MSP is doing this. They love you already, and they'll love what you're doing for our front-line services.

3. What are friends for? Ask your friends if they want to join you or start a team, and then show them these tips. You'll multiply your fundraising even more!

4. Connect with your boss and coworkers. More and more companies want to support local nonprofits, so involving them can be a great way to boost your fundraising.

5. Keep sharing periodical updates on your social media. Sharing is caring!

How can you ask them?

Write a personal Bike for MSP fundraising message using our templates and send it to your friends and family members. Make sure it sounds like it’s coming from you – they know who you are, so be you! Make sure to include the link to your page. Go to wherever you learn, work or socialize and ask people face-to-face to help support this cause you're passionate about. It’s proven that in-person communication is much more effective than anything online, so why not try some old fashion in-person asking? It works!

What about social media?

Nothing beats face-to-face, but you can reach more and more people through social media. Ask your followers to share too, if they're not able to donate. That keeps Bike for MSP top of the mind for people who are willing to help. Be sure to share the link to your fundraising page and tag us in your posts and stories as you Bike for MSP!

Do you even need a fundraising goal?

Not necessarily, but setting a goal gives your donors something to work towards, and it keeps them motivated. Milestones are better! Once you get to one milestone, get to the next, then the next, then the next…

And finally… document your success! Everyone loves a good story, so whenever you get the chance, share why and what you’re doing on social media, and let’s get to that $20,000 goal together for our community!
