Registration

Q: How do I register for the Birdathon?
A: From the Audubon Birdathon page, selected the city you would like to support. Once taken to it’s page select the registration button and follow the prompts.

Q: How do I start a team?
A: After you finish registering for the event you will be asked if you would like to create a team. Select yes, pick your team's name and recruit family and friends. It’s that easy!

Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, there is a $20 registration fee for adults and $10 registration fee for youth (anyone under the age of 18). The fee is 100% tax deductible and counts as a donation to yourself.

Q: Do I have to raise money?
A: It isn’t required to raise money, but we encourage all participants in the Birdathon to help raise funds for birds and the place they need today and in the future. Once registered you will receive your own fundraising page and access to a participant toolkit that will answer all your Birdathon and fundraising questions.


Birdathon

Q: Who can participate?
A: Anyone and everyone!

Q: I am under 18 years old, is that okay?
A: Yes! Youth are encouraged to participate. If you are 17 years old or younger, we require that your legal guardian register you for the event and manage your fundraising page.

Q: How long does the event last?
A:  You have one week to bird on your state’s specified event week. You’re welcome to bird throughout the whole week.

Q: What if it rains?
A: The Birdathon will take place rain or shine; if it rains then it’s a day for the ducks.

Q: Do I have to bird for the whole week?​​
A: No, you’re welcome to bird for as long or as little as you’d like throughout your state's event week.

Q: Do I need binoculars for the Birdathon?
A: Binoculars aren’t required but they could help you sight birds from a distance.

Q: Can you have a teammate birding in a different states?
A: Absolutely!


Fundraising

Q: How do I donate online to a participant or a team?
A: Click the "Donate" button at the top of the page and type in either the participants name or the team name. Then follow the steps for submitting your payment.

Q: Is it too late to start/continue fundraising?
A: It is never too late to fundraise! You can still raise a lot of money in 1 week by reaching out to your closest family and friends. You can even continue to fundraise after the event.

Q: How do I receive a receipt for my online donation?
A: A receipt will be emailed to you using the email address provided on your donation form. If you do not receive an email within 24 hours, please contact: events@audubon.org

Q: Where does the money go that is raised through these events?
A: The money you raise supports Audubon's mission to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.

Q: If I receive money from a friend on the day of the event, will I get credit for it?
A: Yes! Convert cash to money orders or checks. Make sure checks are made out to the "National Audubon Society.” If they are made out to you, endorse the back. Fill out this form here and send both the check and the completed form to:

Points and Badges

Q: How do I earn points and badges? 

A: Points and Badges are earned hand in hand. With each dollar raised and bird species sighted you can earn more points! Sight more birds to gain more points fast! As you earn more points, badges will be earned to show you your progress and give you encouragement along the way!
