Whether you’re inspired by a love of birds, concern for the environment, or the sheer pleasure of being outdoors, the Audubon Birdathon is a great opportunity to do something positive for the planet—and have fun doing it!
The Audubon Birdathon takes place over a week long period, during which you’ll go outside and count as many different bird species as you can. Pick 24-hour period over the course of the week to go birding, do a single morning or afternoon session, or head outside for an hour here or there. You can either build a birding team online—gather teammates from anywhere around the country—or bird on your own.
Any way you do it, every dollar you raise supports Audubon’s  work to protect birds and the places they need.
We’ve lost three billion birds and two-thirds of all North American species are threatened by climate change. You’re doing a great thing by joining the Audubon Birdathon. Thank you!

Why participate:

  • Birds need our help. Three billion birds have disappeared in the past 50 years and two-thirds of North American species are threatened by climate change.
  • Helping birds helps people. Improving bird habitat means less pollution and more resilient ecosystems—and that’s good for everyone.
  • Right now, very cool birds are heading your way. You could spot an Indigo Bunting, Yellow Warbler, or Scarlet Tanager and how great would that be?
  • You need to get outside, shake off those winter cobwebs, and celebrate spring!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

  • Select the Register button for your event below
  • Register and set up your fundraising page. Tell the world why you love birding and how you're supporting Audubon.
  • Fundraise - Ask your family, friends and community to donate to your page in support of your goal. Every dollar counts!
  • Recruit friends to participate with you, consider forming a team!
  • Go birding and log your sightings. Select the best day for birding during the week long Birdathon. On that day, track your bird sightings in your favorite way - pen and paper, through the Audubon app, record a video - once you reach a sightings milestone, log into your fundraising center to upload your progress! You'll receive points for each species sighting milestone you log.
